THE SCULPTOR'S WORKSHOP

Breathing Life into the Blocks of Orbis

Artisan Guild 3D Design Initiate to Master

Introduction: Beyond the Cube

Welcome to the workshop, creators. In TessaWorld, every legendary sword and creature started as an idea and a handful of digital cubes. Hytale possesses a unique art style called "Stylized Voxel."

You don't need a Fine Arts degree. The philosophy is simple: if you can imagine it and stack cubes, you can create it. This manual will teach you to forge assets that fit perfectly into the soul of our universe.

1. The Art Pillars (Our Visual Bible)

Before touching a vertex, you must understand the visual style. It’s not enough to make models; you have to make them with soul.

  • Living Immersion: Orbis is not static. Your models must be designed to move.
  • Fantasy with Character: We seek a unique twist. Chunky proportions and vibrant colors. Avoid grey realism.
  • Stylized Readability: Use iconic shapes. Less is more. Do not overcomplicate geometry.
  • Flexible Technology: Everything is made of cubes and planes (quads) for easy modification.

2. The Tool: Blockbench

Here we use Blockbench, powered by the official Hytale plugin.

  • Why Blockbench? It is lightweight, intuitive, and speaks Hytale's language. Needs no complex setup.
  • The Workflow: Model, texture, and animate all in the same place.

3. Sacred Geometry: Only Cubes and Planes

The golden rule of masters: We only use two primitives.

  • Cubes (6 sides): The bricks of reality.
  • Planes (2 sides): For fine details like wings or sword edges.
  • The Forbidden: No spheres. No smooth cylinders. No complex diagonals. This limitation ensures Hytale's visual DNA.

4. Texturing: Painting the Illusion

We don't use normal maps or PBR. We paint it all by hand.

  • Texel Density: 64px/unit for chars/weapons. 32px/unit for blocks/furniture.
  • The Illusion Technique: Paint shadows and highlights directly onto the texture (Ambient Occlusion).

5. Mastery Tricks: "Stretching" and Color

Advanced techniques to polish the model.

  • Stretching Reality: You can stretch cubes (0.7x to 1.3x) to adjust shapes without breaking textures.
  • The Color Palette: Avoid pure black (#000000) and white (#FFFFFF). Never use grey shadows; use colors (e.g., purple) to add life.

6. Performance: The Polygon Economy

We want massive battles, not slideshows.

  • Simplicity is Speed: Every triangle counts. Start simple and add detail only where it helps the silhouette.
  • Shading Modes: Assign shading modes in Blockbench to define materials.

Conclusion: Your Legacy

You possess the knowledge and technology. We want to see your creations in the citadel. Open Blockbench and start sculpting the future of TessaWorld.
